The purpose of the Nuture Hub at Romans Field School is to support our children in using appropriate social skills, managing and recognising their triggers and being able to begin to self-regulate and practise strategies to manage themselves.
The targeted outcome being an improvement in self-esteem and self-worth; allowing pupils to be confident enough to take risks with their learning and not allow historical feelings or experiences shape their future approach to educational activities.
Academic tasks are also a focus, depending on the pupil's individual needs. Story time, quiet reading, phonics, handwriting, maths games, art, mindfulness and yoga are some of the activites we have enjoyed this half term.
Some of our children have the opportunity to attend the Nuture Hub once they have completed their core lessons in class.
This Half Term
This half term we have nine children and we have been getting to know each other and learning how to work as a team. Some of the activities we have enjoyed so far have been:
- Playing board games to practise turn taking, sharing and helping others.
- Following instructions one-step at a time to complete K-Nex models both independently and with help.
- We also enjoy calm, quiet times, reading and practising mindulness or yoga.
- We have started work on how to be a good friend and identifying our feelings.
As the children work their way through the half term they will record all of their achievements in a scrap book which they can take away with them at the end of their placements.
